Wood is a versatile material in which many shapes can be milled accurately. Nedcam uses wood in the following applications:
Wall panels, table tops or other flat products as outline machined
Blocks of glued wood are milled for products or models in composite applications like yacht building
In 3D CAD designed framework in which the flat sheets fit seamless, mounted with jigsaw fitting parts.
Framework combined with 3D machined blocks (foam or MDF) can also create complex models.

As wood changes dimensions because of changes in temperature and/or moisture level, the individual wooden plates can cause print through in the model. One way of dealing with this issue is to seal the model off completely with Epoxy resin. In case of MDF take care that within the individual plates the hardness is different over the thickness; the outside is much harder than the inside. Grinding of MDF models can therefore cause surface waving as naturally the insides loose more material every stroke. In order to prevent trouble as much as possible Nedcam always uses MDF Topan which is more homogeneous over the thickness and it better stands moisture.
