Texaco petrol stations
On both sides of the E17 between Antwerp and Gent two identical futuristic shaped Texaco petrol stations are build. Commissioned by Ballast Nedam, Nedcam took care of the CAD-engineering, production and assembly of the 3D outer shell.
Bontinck Architecture and Engineering (Gent) designed the BLOB (Binary Large OBject) for which Nedcam created a revolutionary building method. Styrofoam blocks were milled in the required shape and prefab covered with a Polyurea system to be assembled on site on a steel framework. Due to strict logistics Nedcam and its suppliers assembled the stations as huge jigsaws. In February 2009 all will be ready and the art pieces can be used to fuel or to eat in one of the restaurants.
